Forbidden Bonds by Lexi C. Foss
πππMy Reviewπππ
Sooo, I kinda hated Tom in Blood Laws, but can I just say he has totally grown on me and I can't wait to read more about him in future books. Amelia, this poor girl. My heart breaks for her and all she has been through. These two were meant to save each other. Loved all the twists and turns of this book and as I've said many times before I will be impatiently waiting for the next in this series! Oh and I'm with B, pancakes! Thanks Lexi for allowing me to read an Arc and share my opinion on it.
*If you haven't already read Blood Laws before starting this pick it up and enjoy, then come back to Tom, it'll be worth it! Promise!

Author: Lexi C. Foss
Genre: dark paranormal romance

Synopsis
Exile never felt so good. . .
Tom’s a trained sniper, not a babysitter. He kills rogue immortals for a living, but after releasing classified information to a friend, he’s banished to a remote location with the CRF’s most prized asset.
Can two tortured souls find solace and love in one another?
Secrets unfold as Tom forms a forbidden relationship with his new charge. The immortal woman evokes memories and feelings long forgotten, and forces him to question everything he’s ever known.
Sacrifices must be made.
A rash decision sends them both running for their lives as enemies vie for their heads.
Some bonds are meant to be broken. . .
“I promised myself if I ever got out of that hell, I would never rely on another person for anything ever again. But you’re the only one who brings me a sense of peace and comfort, and that terrifies me. I don’t want to rely on you, Tom. But I can’t seem to help myself.”
Her words both warmed and chilled him. He removed his hand from the wall near her hip to palm her cheek and felt some of the chill dissipate when she pressed into his touch. “Leaning on someone for comfort doesn’t mean you’re weak, sweetheart. But I understand where you’re coming from; you want to be able to protect yourself.” He felt the same way, which was why these feelings for her confused him. Whenever he considered leaving the CRF, he only thought about how to look after himself, but she changed everything. A life of loneliness no longer appealed.
“You also make me feel strong,” she told him. “In addition to the peace and comfort, I mean.”
“Yeah?”
She nodded. “And you teach me things. It may have been a diversion at first, but I think you enjoyed training me.”
His grin was automatic. “Oh, I more than enjoyed it.” He fucking loved it.
“What did you enjoy most?” she asked, a smile in her voice. So much better than the sadness lurking there before. He liked playing with flirtatious Amelia.
“Everything.” From the gun stance lessons to rolling around with her on the ground, he enjoyed every minute. If he died soon, those would be the memories he’d miss most. And their one explosive night together.
“All right, but what did you like teaching me most?”
He ran his thumb over her bottom lip. “Defensive moves, even though you about killed me.”
“How’s that?” Her mouth curled down at the edges, and he traced it with his thumb.
“ ‘Straddle me again,’ ” he quoted. “Ever say that to me again, and I’ll well and truly straddle you.”
Arousal darkened her gaze. “I think I’d like that.”
